Red Flag Global appoints former TD Cathal Berry as Director of Public Affairs

Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

Red Flag Global, an Ankura Company, has announced the appointment of Cathal Berry as Director of Public Affairs, based in Ireland.

Mr Berry joins Red Flag after a career which has seen him hold positions as a TD, an Army  Ranger and a medical doctor over the past 25 years. His military, medical and managerial background, combined with his political experience brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to the firm.

Cathal Berry will advise Red Flag’s clients across a range of industries, including health, defence, tech, energy and others.  He will assist clients with a footprint in Ireland, but his vast experience across a wide range of issues of geopolitical importance will see him bring huge value to Red Flag’s global regulatory and policy campaigns across many markets.

This appointment continues Red Flag Global’s expansion of its public affairs team in Ireland, following the appointment of former minister Denis Naughten as a senior advisor late last year.

Managing Director of Red Flag in Ireland, Deirdre Grant said: “Cathal Berry’s appointment to Red Flag comes at a time of great global uncertainty.  The depth and breadth of his experience both in national politics and international relations will assist our clients to navigate an increasingly volatile geopolitical situation.  This appointment also underlines our commitment to our work in Ireland as we continue to expand our offering here, and internationally, as part of the wider Ankura Consulting Group.”

Cathal said “As the challenges facing our world are now more complex and multi-faceted than ever, the provision of expert and timely advice has never been more important. I am delighted to be joining the Red Flag team here in Dublin and am very much looking forward to adding my specific expertise to their already impressive offering to clients.”

CEO of Red Flag, Karl Brophy said: “As Ireland assumes the Presidency of the EU and with the geopolitical situation changing on a near weekly basis, Cathal will bring his unique blend of skills and experience to assist our clients in a wide variety of sectors.  His appointment comes at a pivotal time in international relations and he is now part of the team of more than 2,500 consultants across Ankura, working in 55 countries across the globe.”
