Sir Ivor is one of the most experienced and respected British diplomats. He was Head of Counter Terrorism at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office before being appointed as the UK’s first ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Sir Ivor subsequently served as ambassador to both Ireland and Italy. He is president of Trinity College in Oxford, and was knighted in 2000. He is an experienced negotiator, having worked on Europe’s first Common Agricultural Policy and the release of British soldiers held by Bosnian Serbs in 1995.
