In her role as a Senior Policy Advisor, Ms. Erica Suares serves as Senate Minority Leader McConnell’s (R-KY) chief external liaison, with a primary focus on the business community, as well as policy and political organizations. She began her career in state politics, working for former Governor of Alabama Bob Riley. She then worked at the federal level in Washington, first in the White House Office of Political Affairs under President George W. Bush, then at The Heritage Foundation in Senate Relations, and later as a Policy Advisor and Legislative Director to former Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC). Prior to joining Leader McConnell's staff in 2013, Ms. Suares served as Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs to the Romney campaign, specifically as liaison to the United States Senate. Ms. Suares holds a bachelor's degree from Auburn University, and master's degrees from Vanderbilt and Harvard Universities.
