Ambassador Taranjit Sandhu

Ambassador Taranjit Sandhu arrived in Washington in 2020. Prior to his current role, he was the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. Ambassador Sandhu has served in DC twice before, as Deputy Chief of Mission and as First Secretary. He has held postings at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York, Frankfurt, Ukraine and the former Soviet Union. In the Ministry of External Affairs in India, his assignments have included working as the Joint Secretary for the United Nations and Officer on Special Duty. Ambassador Sandhu holds a B.A. in History from St. Stephens' College, Delhi and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
